FAQ's
ACP stands for Aluminium Composite Panel. It is a lightweight architectural panel made by bonding two aluminium sheets to a core material. ACP is commonly used for exterior facades, wall cladding, interiors, signage and other architectural applications. VIVA offers ACP in different thicknesses, coatings, finishes and fire-performance specifications.
ACP is used for a wide range of interior and exterior applications, including building facades, exterior wall cladding, residential elevations, commercial buildings, malls, hotels, hospitals, interior feature walls, ceilings, signage and shopfronts. The appropriate ACP specification depends on the application, building requirements and required fire performance.
ACP consists of two aluminium skins bonded to a lightweight core, while a solid aluminium panel is made from a solid aluminium sheet. ACP is generally selected when lightweight construction, design flexibility and a wide range of finishes are required, whereas solid aluminium panels can be preferred where greater rigidity and specific architectural or fabrication requirements are needed. VIVA offers both ACP and Solid X solid aluminium panels.
Fire-rated ACP is an aluminium composite panel designed with a fire-retardant or fire-resistant core to provide improved fire performance compared with standard combustible ACP. VIVA offers FR B1 and FR A2+ ACCP solutions for projects where enhanced fire performance is required.
FR A2+ ACCP stands for Fire-Rated Aluminium Corrugated Core Panel. It uses an aluminium corrugated core instead of a conventional polyethylene core and is classified A2-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1. VIVA's FR A2+ ACCP is Thomas Bell-Wright certified and is designed for projects requiring a high level of fire performance.
FR B1 ACP uses a mineral-filled core and is classified as B-s1,d0, while FR A2+ ACCP uses an aluminium corrugated core and is classified as A2-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1. The appropriate grade depends on the building design, applicable regulations and project-specific fire-safety requirements.
Fire-rated ACP should be considered when a project requires enhanced fire performance, particularly for buildings and facilities where fire-safety requirements are stringent. The required fire classification should be determined based on the building type, height, applicable codes, local regulations and project specifications. VIVA provides FR B1 and FR A2+ options for different requirements.
ACP can be used for high-rise applications when the appropriate fire-rated product and facade system are specified. VIVA offers FR A2+ ACCP for projects requiring high fire performance, including high-rise applications. The final product and installation system should always be selected according to applicable building codes and the project's fire-safety requirements.
VIVA offers a broad range of aluminium composite panels, including standard ACP, PE-coated ACP, PVDF-coated ACP, FR B1 and FR A2+ ACCP, along with specialised architectural finishes. Its wider product portfolio includes Solid X, Honeycomb Panels, Louvers, Baffles, Rainscreen Systems, Stucco Panels and Colour Coated Aluminium Coils.
VIVA ACP is available in 3 mm, 4 mm and 6 mm thickness options, depending on the product and application. Different panel thicknesses and aluminium skin specifications can be selected according to the project's structural, fabrication and performance requirements.
VIVA offers standard ACP panel sizes including 1220 × 2440 mm, 1220 × 3050 mm and 1500 × 4000 mm, with custom sizes available for suitable large-scale projects. Exact size availability can vary depending on the product and specification.
VIVA offers different coating options according to the product and application, including PE, PVDF and other specialised coating systems. PVDF-coated ACP is commonly used for exterior applications where enhanced weather and UV resistance is required, while other coatings are available for specific interior and architectural requirements.
VIVA offers 500+ shades and finishes across 25+ series, including solid, metallic, wooden, marble, natural stone, textured and other decorative finishes. This allows architects, designers and project teams to select finishes according to the aesthetic requirements of their projects.
The right ACP should be selected based on factors such as interior or exterior application, building height, fire-performance requirements, panel thickness, aluminium skin thickness, coating, environmental conditions, finish and installation system. For facade projects, architects and facade consultants should select the panel according to the complete project specification rather than considering colour or appearance alone.
ACP is fabricated and installed using a suitable facade or cladding system based on the building design and panel specification. Installation can involve panel cutting, routing, folding or forming and mechanical fixing to the supporting structure. The installation method should follow the manufacturer's technical guidelines and the requirements of the project's facade design.
ACP sheets should be stored flat, dry and protected from moisture, excessive heat and physical damage. They should be handled carefully to prevent scratches, dents, deformation or surface damage before fabrication and installation. Storage and handling should follow the manufacturer's technical recommendations for the specific panel.
In addition to ACP, VIVA's current portfolio includes FR A2+ ACCP, Solid X solid aluminium panels, Honeycomb Panels, Louvers, Baffles, Rainscreen Systems, Stucco Panels and Colour Coated Aluminium Coils, among other architectural panel solutions.
