FAQ's
ACP stands for Aluminium Composite Panel. It is a lightweight panel made by bonding two thin aluminium sheets to a core. ACP is used for building facades, wall cladding, interiors, signage and shop fronts. VIVA makes ACP in different thicknesses, coatings, finishes and fire ratings.
ACP is used for building facades, exterior wall cladding, house front elevations, malls, hotels, hospitals, offices, shop fronts, signage, petrol pump canopies, feature walls and ceilings. The right ACP depends on where it will be used, the building height and the fire rating the project needs.
ACP has two aluminium skins bonded to a lightweight core, while a solid aluminium panel is a single sheet of aluminium. ACP is lighter and comes in a wider range of finishes. Solid aluminium is more rigid and better for folded shapes, column covers and sharp facade details. VIVA makes both, and its Solid X was the first pre-coated, ready-to-install solid aluminium panel in India.
Fire-rated (FR) ACP is an aluminium composite panel with a fire-retardant or non-combustible core, so it performs much better in a fire than standard ACP. VIVA offers FR B1 panels with a mineral-filled core and FR A2+ ACCP with an aluminium corrugated core, and was the first in India to set up A2 core production lines.
FR A2+ ACCP is a fire-rated Aluminium Corrugated Core Panel. Instead of a polyethylene core, it uses a corrugated aluminium core and is classified A2-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1, which means it is non-combustible. VIVA's FR A2+ ACCP is certified by Thomas Bell-Wright (Dubai) and was the first of its kind in India. It is used on high-rise buildings, hospitals, airports and other projects with strict fire norms.
FR B1 ACP has a mineral-filled core and is classified B-s1,d0, while FR A2+ ACCP has an aluminium corrugated core and is classified A2-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1. A2 is the higher, non-combustible class. Which one you need depends on the building type, height and local fire regulations.
Use fire-rated ACP when the building type, height or local codes call for better fire performance, for example on high-rise buildings, hospitals, hotels, malls, airports and public buildings. The exact class (FR B1 or FR A2+) should be decided by the architect or fire consultant based on the project's codes. VIVA can share test reports and certificates for both.
Yes, if the right fire-rated panel and facade system are used. For high-rise projects, VIVA recommends FR A2+ ACCP, which is non-combustible (A2-s1,d0) and Thomas Bell-Wright certified. Always confirm the final product and fixing system against the building codes that apply to your project.
VIVA offers standard ACP, PE-coated ACP for interiors and signage, PVDF and FEVE-coated ACP for exteriors, FR B1 and FR A2+ fire-rated panels, and special finishes like wood, marble, stone, brushed metal and fluted. Beyond ACP, VIVA also makes Zinc Composite Panels, Solid X solid aluminium sheets, Honeycomb Panels, Louvers, Baffles, Stucco, Luxe Regalio, Rainscreen Systems and Colour Coated Aluminium Coils.
VIVA ACP is available in 3mm, 4mm and 6mm thickness. 3mm is common for interiors and signage, 4mm is the most used for exterior facades, and 6mm is used for heavy-duty and high-traffic areas. Aluminium skin thickness can also be chosen to suit the project.
VIVA's standard ACP sheet sizes include 1220 x 2440 mm (4 x 8 ft), 1220 x 3050 mm (4 x 10 ft) and 1500 x 4000 mm. Custom sizes can be made for larger projects. Exact availability depends on the product and specification.
VIVA ACP comes with PE, PVDF and FEVE coatings. PVDF, made with 70% KYNAR 500 resin, is the standard choice for exteriors because it handles sun, rain and pollution well. PE is a cost-effective option for interiors and signage. All coatings are applied on VIVA's own 5 colour coating lines, the first ACP brand in India to run five.
VIVA offers 500+ shades across 25+ series, including solid, metallic, glossy, wooden, marble, natural stone, brushed, mirror and fluted finishes. If you need a specific colour, VIVA can match RAL or Pantone shades and create custom colours for your project.
Start with four questions: is it for inside or outside, how tall is the building, what fire rating do local codes need, and what look do you want? For exteriors, choose 4mm PVDF-coated ACP. For high-rise or public buildings, choose FR A2+ ACCP. For interiors and signage, 3mm PE-coated ACP is usually enough. VIVA's team can help you pick the right specification.
ACP is cut, routed and folded into trays, then fixed to a metal frame on the wall. The two common methods are tray mounting (hidden fixing) and direct screwing. Joints are sealed with weather-grade silicone. Installation should follow VIVA's handling and installation guidelines and the project's facade design.
Store ACP sheets flat on a level pallet, indoors or under cover, away from moisture and direct sun. Do not stack heavy items on top, and keep the protective film on until installation is complete. Lift sheets instead of sliding them to avoid scratches.
Apart from ACP, VIVA makes FR A2+ ACCP, Zinc Composite Panels, Solid X solid aluminium sheets, Aluminium Honeycomb Panels, Louvers and Baffles, Stucco panels, Luxe Regalio, Rainscreen Systems and Colour Coated Aluminium Coils. Several of these were firsts in India, including pre-coated ready-to-install solid aluminium panels and A1 fire-rated honeycomb panels.
