ACP Sizes Thickness

Aluminium Composite Panels are flat panels made up of polyethene and aluminium. ACP sheets are available in various shades, designs, textures, sizes and thicknesses. These panels are versatile in application and can be used for interior/exterior wall paneling, and signage to elevate the aesthetic of transports such as metro, rail, aerospace, etc. Depending on the application different ACP sheet size is utilized, and this ranges in difference in ACP sheet thickness, and length.

The way we perceive a structure has a lot to do with design and the facade, or the thin second skin you may call it. The selection of thickness is as important as the choice of design, and texture of the facade. ACP sheet sizes are available in 3mm panels, 4mm panels, and 6mm panels. The thickness of the aluminium alloy coil and the thermoplastic core build the thickness of the product.

ACP Sheets: Exploring the 3mm, 4mm, and 6mm Varieties

As far as ACP sheet thickness and size are concerned, the installation height heavily influences the choice. Choosing a particular thickness or size is largely influenced by wind velocity at different altitudes.

But, is that all? No!

The choice of the right ACP sheet thickness is one of the crucial parts of the right installation, as any space which requires a thicker panel cannot give the same longevity as a thinner installed. So, here are some handful tips that you can keep in mind for choosing the right ACP panel.

But first thing first, let’s understand the dimensions of all types of thicknesses of aluminium composite panels.

ACP Sheet Sizes/Thickness Chart

Dimension of Aluminium Composite Panels
Standard Size 2440mm x 1220mm, 3050mm x 1220mm, 3660mm x 1220mm
Panel Thickness 3mm, 4mm & 6mm
Skin Thickness 0.25mm & 0.50mm

Why ACP Sheets Are Available In Various Thicknesses And Sizes?

ACP sheets are made in various thicknesses: 3mm, 4mm, 6mm and more. The selection of ACP thickness largely depends on the altitude at which it is to be installed mainly because of the wind velocity that will differ at that height. Thicker ACP panels, around 4mm to 6mm, are commonly used for tall buildings like offices and skyscrapers, while 3mm thickness is well-suited for applications such as signage and interior.

3mm ACP Sheet

In this, the ACP panel contains, 0.21 to 0.25mm thick aluminium alloy coil along with a 2.5mm core. The thin coil is of the same thickness in the bottom and top layer, above which there is either a two-coat or three-coat PVDF paint coating, along with the protective film.

4mm ACP Sheet

The 4.0mm ACP comes in two forms. One contains a 3.0mm core along with 0.5mm thickness of the bottom and a top layer of Aluminium alloy. Another contains a 3.5mm LDPE core and 0.25mm aluminium alloy thickness. The difference in core thickness differentiates its application in interior and exterior facades.

6mm ACP Sheet

In a 6mm panel, the thickness of aluminium alloy is either 0.25mm, 0.30mm, or 0.50mm, while the core can be 5.5mm, 5.4mm, or 5mm. The dynamic feature of the 6mm ACP panel includes the ability to resist damage and withstand challenging winds.

Tips for Choosing the Right Thickness of ACP Sheet

Selection of the Area

If the ACP panel is selected for the interior, then 3mm thickness is the better choice. At the same time, for the exterior, the choice must be sturdy and strong enough to resist weather changes and changes in climatic conditions, which is why ACP sheet size 4mm and 6mm is the more appropriate choice.

Type of Application

ACP sheets are useful in a range of operations, from the use of ACP sheets in designing signages, 3-D screens, event promotional stalls, trolleys, drawers, and metro coaches. ACP panels which are of 3mm thickness are used in trolleys and drawers. 6mm ACP sheets are used for exterior purposes as they are quite strong and sturdy.
