Take Fire Safety A Step Ahead With Fire Resistant Panels

Be it a commercial space or a residential property, fire hazards can happen anywhere. However, it does not always have to end in a tragic loss of life and property. So what are some constructions doing right, which others aren’t? Well, for the majority part, such constructions are choosing the right building materials which are resistant to fire mishaps.

Rapid urbanisation has mostly included materials such as steel, concrete, and wood for construction. However, they are prone to crumbling under high temperatures. Yes, the smallest of residential fires can quickly reach temperatures that can bring down tough materials like steel. But, here’s the catch! Choosing fire retardant panels for interior and exterior cladding can reduce the chance of such extreme consequences.

How Can ACP Sheets Help Reduce Fire Risk?

Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP) are designed and built as sustainable building material alternatives. These building materials are ideal for both interior and exterior facades, contributing to an aesthetic presence to constructions. These panels are designed using the concept of sandwiching a core and other components. Besides, they are also resistant to fire, which adds to their list of features. Here’s how fire retardant ACP can keep fire risks at bay.

    The Innovative Design

For a fire to start and spread, it needs to follow a path that can conduct well. The advantage that ACP sheets offer over other cladding materials is the design and the sandwiched core components. Not only does aluminium have a high melting point but the adhesives used between the layers, provide insulation to the inner components, making them less flammable.

    Improved Durability

ACP sheets offer the added advantage of a special coating on top of the aluminium alloy. The coating further makes them resistant to higher temperatures and fire. Which means, no cracking or warping and a longer lifespan.

    No Molten Droplets Produced

Fire-retardant ACP sheets do not produce molten droplets which are common in facade materials like steel. With no such incidents, there is reduced panic among people and evacuation processes can be carried out in an efficient manner.

    Zero Toxic Gases

In most case studies related to residential, commercial, or industrial fires, the highest number of deaths are due to asphyxiation from inhaling toxic gases (like CO and CO2) and panic from reduced visibility. Fire retardant panels do not produce any toxic gases, which gives people the chance to escape in case of any fire.

How Can ACP Sheets Reduce Fire Risk?

Fire accidents not only cause damage to property but also to life. Being the first ACP manufacturer in India to introduce FR Grade A2+ ACP sheets, Viva offers builders, architects, and designers the freedom to be creative while prioritising safety.

Specialised fire retardant panels from Viva reduce the risk of casualty and property damage because of the negligible smoke and zero-flaming droplets. This is a major bonus as these sheets offer up to 2 hours of delay in the spreading of fire. Plus, this gives ample time to evacuate and mitigate the fire.

These panels are designed using state-of-the-art technology. Particularly, the FR Class A2 and FR Class B1 contain fire-retardant core(s) like Magnesium Hydroxide and Aluminium Trittydroxide. These components make them inorganic and halogen-free – reducing the scope of catching fire.

The FR class B comprises 70% Mineral & 30 % Polyethylene recycled Core, whereas the FR class A2 includes 90% Mineral & 10 % Polyethylene recycled Core. VIVA’s FR class A2+ is known as ACCP (Aluminium core corrugated panel), and VIVA is the first to introduce this in India. It is made up of 100% aluminium and does not contain any polyethylene core, which causes fire. It is made up of a honeycomb core sandwiched between two aluminium coils. Besides, Viva’s sheets do not release a lot of heat which allows the temperature to rise slower than other alternatives.

Having several certifications including the Thomas Bell-Wright International Consultant, Viva’s fire-resistant ACP sheets go through several quality checks and tests. Fire retardant ACP by Viva guarantees superior-quality, safe, fires-resisting cladding and designer material — designed for the future of construction.
