Aluminium composite panels, ACPs have become one of the most widely used materials in India. ACPs are recyclable, are eco-friendly and has multiple use in exteriors as well as interiors such as claddings, signages, interior decorations, ceilings, etc.

Viva Metal Composite Panel is on top of the list of best ACP sheet manufacturers in India, with over two decades of production experience in the field. We are the first ACP manufacturer in India to introduce an A2 core production facility.

This article shares an overview of A2's core production facility, its benefits, and how VIVA has brought a change in India’s ACP manufacturing industry:

What is the A2 core production facility?

Aluminium composite panel (ACP) is a material that is produced by sandwiching two thin aluminum sheets with a core that is generally a fire-resistant material or polyethylene. Viva’s products abide by the EN 13501-1 Compliance.

Exploring EN 13501-1 Compliance

When it comes to construction materials, fire safety is non-negotiable. The European Standard EN13501-1 classifies construction materials in terms of their reaction to fire. It basically evaluates how the material reacts when exposed to fire and whether it plays a role in spreading the fire.

Based on the testing method, it can further be classified into Euro Classes, such as:

Class Smoke Droplets Interpretation

A1 - - Fully non-combustible

A2-s1,d0 Low None Materials of this class, show very limited reaction to fire

B-s2,d1 Medium Some These materials are combustible but fire-retardant

C-s2,d1 Medium Some C class materials offer limited protection in fire

D-s3,d2 High High Offer medium contribution to fire

E - d2 High contribution, no smoke test

Here, s1, s2, d0, etc., signify smoke and flaming droplets, such as:

● s1 = Produces low smoke

● s2 = Produces medium smoke

● s3 = Produces high smoke

● d0 = No flaming droplets

● d1 = Some flaming droplets

● d2 = High flaming droplets

Therefore, s1d0 signifies low smoke production with no flaming droplets. Similarly, s3,d2 signifies high smoke with high flaming droplets.

VIVA’s In-House Manufacturing Facility

VIVA’s in-house manufacturing facility is equipped with advanced technologies that has a capacity of producing 15 million m2 per annum. With 14 Production Lines, the facility strictly complies with global standards.

Our A2 core production line includes:

FR Class A2 Production Line

At Viva metal composite panels, our FR Class A2 Production Line uses 90% mineral core and 10% polyethylene core. We use innovative high quality fire-retardant ACP panels that offer explicit resistance to combustion.

FR Class A2+ Production Line

The FR class A2+ production line, also known as ACCP (Aluminium core corrugated panel), is made of 100% aluminium. It does not contain any polyethylene core, which may lead to fire, and consists of a honeycomb core sandwiched between two aluminium coils.

How VIVA’s A2 Core Enhances Fire Safety?

A2 core in ACP panels signifies that the core material used in manufacturing the final product is of A2 class. Therefore, the materials show a minimal reaction when they come in contact with fire.

This property is absolutely essential for ACP panels, as it increases the safety of a structure. Especially for high-rise buildings, it can be a major challenge for residents to safely leave the hazardous area.

Final Thoughts:

In a developing country like India, with a strong future potential in construction projects, constructors are looking for reliable materials. To meet this demand, VIVA is the first ever manufacturer to introduce an A2 core production facility in India.

With an advanced facility, our production line follows EN 13501-1 Compliance. These specially designed ACP panels emit no toxic gases or smoke and flaming droplets, which increases safety and reduces property damage.
