Aluminium Composite Panels – An Extra Layer Of Protection And Efficiency

To understand the purpose of the Aluminium Composite Panel, it is first necessary to understand what exactly is cladding. In simple terms, cladding refers to the outer layer/skin applied to a building in order to protect its façade from outdoor elements and harsh weather conditions and also to improve the building’s aesthetics.
It is also used for the purpose of stopping wind and rain from entering the building. Along with fire resistance, ACP cladding  also provides a good sound as well as thermal insulation.

Aluminium Composite Panels

Aluminium Composite Panel or ACP sheets are the modern cladding material that is acclaimed because of their unique properties and is widely considered the best cladding material to be ever introduced in the market.
The best quality ACP sheets are known for being durable yet lightweight, can be bent, fold or turn easily, stain-resistant, eco-friendly, easy to install, and hassle-free to maintain and are also available in the fire-retardant and anti-bacterial variants.
ACP sheets are basically flat panels consisting of two thin coil-coated aluminium sheets bonded to a non-aluminium core. ACP panel sheets can also be further coated with PVDF or Polyester paint.
In fact, the application of this cladding material stretches far beyond just building cladding. It is also used for false ceilings and in balconies, kitchens, and bathrooms. Commercially, these sheets are also used for signage and signboards.
Aluminium Composite Panels apart from acting as a superior layer of protection and efficiency for the buildings also boosts their aesthetic appeal.

Fire-Retardant & Anti-Bacterial

As already mentioned, ACP sheets are also available in fire-retardant and anti-bacterial variants as well which makes them one of the most preferred cladding materials in the world.

Fire-retardant ACP panels, as the name suggests, are resistant to fire as they do not conduct the heat very quickly. This makes them a superior barrier against fire. Fire-retardant sheets have fire retardant cores and that is what makes them fire-proof. The minerals which have 70:30 ratios between inorganic materials and the polymer is regarded as Fire retardant. The larger part of the core is made of materials like Magnesium Hydroxide and Aluminium Hydroxide. The normal ACPs possess cores with the LDPE/HDPE minerals.
VIVA's FR A2 ACP sheets are made of 90% non-halogenated, inorganic material that produces water vapor in the initial combustion stage and discourages the propagation of flame. This is because it has mineral content in it in the ratio of 90:10.
VIVA's FR class A2+ is known as ACCP (Aluminium core corrugated panel), and VIVA is the first to introduce this in India. It is made up of 100% aluminium and does not contain any polyethylene core, which causes fire. It is made up of a honeycomb core sandwiched between two aluminium coils.
Anti-bacterial ACP panels are known to offer great resistance against bacterial growth on the surface. It is coated with specially formulated paint that provides effective protection against bacteria. The best quality anti-microbial ACP panels manufactured by the leading ACP sheet manufacturers in India are quite effective against a number of harmful bacteria such as MRSA, E.coli, salmonella, and legionella, as well as black mold growth, biofilm, and fungi. These sheets are widely used in hospitals, homes, playschools, toilets, kitchens, and nursing homes to name a few places.

Wrapping Up
